REAL VS. DUPES

Pretty In Pink

In The Fashion World, Does Real or Fake Matter?

The question everyone seems to be asking lately: If it looks good, does it really matter where it came from?

Let’s talk about dupes.

Fashion dupes have been everywhere lately. From shoes and handbags to jewelry, sunglasses, makeup, and even home decor, it seems like there is a less expensive version of almost everything. Social media has made it even easier to find them, with creators showing off their “designer-looking” finds and comparing them side-by-side with the originals.

And honestly? I understand the appeal.

Not everyone wants to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on one handbag just because it has a certain logo on it. Sometimes you simply want the look without the price tag. And if you can find something cute, well-made, and within your budget, why shouldn't you?

But that brings us to the bigger question:

Does real or fake actually matter?

I think there is a difference between buying a dupe and buying something fake and pretending it is authentic.

A dupe is usually inspired by a popular design without necessarily pretending to be the original brand. You're getting a similar style without paying the designer price.

A counterfeit, on the other hand, is made to imitate the original brand and can use its logos, trademarks, and branding to make people believe it is authentic.

And personally, I think that distinction matters.

There is absolutely nothing embarrassing about saying, “Yes, it's a dupe.”

Actually, I think something is refreshing about it.

The Pressure to Have the “Real” Thing

Fashion has always been connected to status. Certain brands can make people feel like they've officially “made it.” Social media has only amplified that feeling.

We constantly see influencers carrying expensive bags, wearing luxury shoes, and showing off closets filled with designer pieces. It can make you feel like you need those same things to be fashionable.

But here's the thing:

A price tag doesn't automatically give you style.

Someone can wear a $30 outfit and look amazing. Someone else can wear a $3,000 outfit and completely miss the mark.

Fashion is about creativity, personality, and how you put things together. Your outfit should say something about you, not just how much money you spent on it.

Why I Don't Think Buying Dupes Is Something to Be Ashamed Of

Let's be realistic. Fashion can be expensive.

Trends change constantly, and something that is extremely popular today might be forgotten six months from now. Spending a huge amount of money on every trend isn't realistic for most people.

That's where dupes can be fun.

Maybe you've been obsessed with a particular shoe style but don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on it. Maybe you love the look of a trendy handbag but would rather save your money for something more important.

There is nothing wrong with finding an affordable alternative.

And honestly, sometimes the dupe is just really cute.

I'm not going to pretend I don't understand the excitement of finding something that shares your aesthetic for a fraction of the price. It's like finding a little fashion secret.

But Would I Want the Real Thing?

This is where things get complicated.

Sometimes, yes.

There are certain designer pieces that I genuinely appreciate not only because of the name, but because of the craftsmanship, history, design, and quality behind them.

There is also something special about saving for a piece that you have wanted for a long time and finally being able to purchase it.

But I don't think owning the original makes someone more fashionable than the person carrying the dupe.

The bag doesn't determine the girl carrying it.

And that's something I think we forget when we get caught up in fashion culture.

So... Real or Fake?

Maybe the answer isn't as simple as choosing one.

If you can afford the original and genuinely love it, buy it.

If you can't or simply don't want to spend that much, find the affordable version.

If you love vintage, thrift it.

If you love experimenting with trends, have fun with it.

And if you want to save for one special designer piece, that's okay too.

Fashion should be fun. It shouldn't become a competition over who has the most expensive closet.

At the end of the day, confidence isn't something you can purchase with a designer logo.

Wear what makes you happy. Find pieces that make you feel like yourself. Mix expensive pieces with affordable ones. Thrift something amazing. Buy the dupe. Save for the original.

Just don't let a label convince you that you're worth more because you own it.

Because whether your bag costs $20 or $2,000...

It's still just a bag.

And you are the one giving it the style.

Happy Sunday!!

Happy Sunday: A letter to God  ๐Ÿค

Dear God,

I don't always stop and say it enough, but thank You.

Thank you for keeping me.

This year hasn't always been easy. There have been moments when I felt overwhelmed, uncertain, tired, and unsure of what was coming next. There were times when I couldn't understand why certain things were happening or where You were leading me. But somehow, even through the hardest moments, You were there.

Looking back now, I can see blessings that I didn't recognize at first. I can see the doors You opened, the things You protected me from, the people You placed in my life, and the opportunities that came when I least expected them.

Thank You for every blessing; both the ones I've prayed for and the ones I didn't even know I needed.

Thank You for giving me strength when I felt like I had none left. Thank You for reminding me that my story isn't over just because one chapter is difficult. Thank You for giving me reasons to keep going, keep believing, and keep becoming the person I'm meant to be.

God, please continue to guide me.

Keep my heart in the right place. Keep me humble when life is going well and faithful when life gets difficult. Don't let me become so focused on where I'm going that I forget to appreciate how far You've already brought me.

Lead me toward new opportunities. Open the doors that are meant for me, and give me the wisdom to recognize them. If something isn't meant for me, give me the strength to let it go; even when I don't understand why.

I pray that the path ahead of me is filled with purpose, growth, love, peace, and opportunities to become the woman You created me to be.

I don't know everything You have planned for me, but I trust that You do.

So I'll keep praying. I'll keep working. I'll keep believing. And I'll keep taking the next step, even when I can't see the entire road ahead.

Thank You for keeping me through every difficult moment.

Thank You for the blessings that have already found me.

And thank You for the blessings I haven't even met yet.

Whatever comes next, God, I just ask that You walk with me through it.

Keep me on the right path.

Keep me close to You.

And never let me forget that I didn't get here alone.

With love and gratitude,

K๐Ÿค

I Will Always Love You

๐Ÿ’• A Little Love for Dolly Parton

There are some people you grow up loving without ever actually meeting them. You hear their voice, watch them on TV, admire the way they carry themselves, and somehow they start to feel like a little part of your life. For me, one of those people has always been Dolly Parton. ๐ŸŽ€

Dolly was my favorite country singer. She is the reason I was open to exploring that genre of music in the first place. There was just something about her that I loved. Her voice, her personality, her big hair, her sparkly outfits, and especially the kindness she seemed to carry everywhere she went. She always had this way of making people smile while still being completely herself.

I used to think about what it would be like to actually meet her. If I ever got the chance, I feel like I would probably be so excited that I wouldn't even know what to say! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I would want to tell her how much I've admired her and how special she has always been to me.

And then there was the perfume. ๐Ÿ’—

When Dolly Parton's perfume first came out, I had to have it. I remember being so excited about it because it felt like owning a tiny piece of something connected to someone I had admired for so long. It wasn't just perfume to me; it was one of those little things that makes a memory stick.

Sometimes it's funny how something as simple as a scent can take you right back to a certain time in your life. Whenever I think about Dolly's perfume, I think about being excited to have something that reminded me of one of my favorite singers.

Dolly has always felt like more than just a country music star to me. She's a reminder that you can be feminine, glamorous, funny, talented, kind, and unapologetically yourself all at once. And I think that's one of the reasons so many people love her.

I'll always have her music, the memories, and that little bottle of perfume that reminds me of just how much I admired her.

Some people are simply unforgettable, and Dolly Parton is definitely one of those people. ๐ŸŽ€✨

R.I.P Dolly Parton; may your songs keep playing!

๐Ÿ‚ Something Sweet: The Perfect Fall Treat — Cinnamon Rolls

If you’re looking for something delicious to make this fall, cinnamon rolls should definitely be on your list. ๐ŸคŽ๐Ÿ‚

There’s just something about cinnamon rolls that feels perfect for the season. The warm cinnamon, sweet brown sugar, buttery dough, and creamy icing all come together to make the ultimate cozy treat. Plus, your whole kitchen will smell absolutely amazing while they’re baking!

I love making cinnamon rolls when the weather starts getting cooler. There’s something so comforting about being inside, putting on a cozy playlist, and baking something warm and sweet.

The best part is that cinnamon rolls are actually really fun to make. You get to roll out the dough, spread on the buttery cinnamon-sugar filling, roll everything up, and cut them into those cute little swirls. Then you pop them in the oven and wait for the magic to happen. ✨

And when they come out warm and golden, you can drizzle them with icing and dig right in.

They are SO delicious. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐ŸคŽ

The cinnamon and brown sugar give them that warm fall flavor without being overwhelming, and the icing adds the perfect amount of sweetness. They're soft, fluffy, gooey, and basically everything you want in a fall dessert.

I also think cinnamon rolls are perfect for sharing. Make a batch for a cozy weekend breakfast, a fall movie night, a family get-together, or just because you’re craving something sweet. Honestly, you don't really need a reason!

๐Ÿ My Fall Baking Recommendation ๐Ÿ

If you want to make something that feels like fall in dessert form, make cinnamon rolls.

Light a candle, put on your favorite fall playlist, grab a warm drink, and spend some time in the kitchen. There's something really special about homemade treats, especially when you get to enjoy them fresh out of the oven.

So yes, cinnamon rolls officially have my vote for one of the best fall treats. ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸคŽ

They're warm, sweet, delicious, and the perfect little comfort food for a chilly fall day.

10/10 would make again. ๐ŸŽ€
